Cookies Class at Cake Connection

I've been conducting a Fun With Cookies classes (either adults or children) at Cake Connection since November 2008. It gets particularly fun when we have a theme like Valentine's or Animals cos I go all out to think about the designs and the cutters and what nots.

Due to Cake Connection's streamlining of their classes schedule, I will now conduct a Cookies Class every other month instead of monthly now. So, I can breathe a little easier. The classes are fun, seriously. But the preparation is a lot too.

Anyhow. These pictures are from my Fun with Cookies class the Saturday before last i.e. 28th March 2009.

I made 6 cookies per student with extras, of course for breakages and accidents *opps* during class. Since there were only ladies this time around, I made a WEDDING DRESS, BUTTERFLY, HEART, FLOWER, ROUND (for either spider web, baby bib or anything a round cookie can be) and CUPCAKE (this I just bought but never tried yet).

So, enjoy these slightly blurry pictures. I forgot my camera (it's in the other handbag. Don't smirk yourself. I'm sure you've used up this excuse too. Hahahah)

Wedding Dress in simple dots designs. This was actually my demo cookie.

This turned out to be a lot of fun. Especially with the sprinkles on top of the cupcake. Must remember to use the cutter for my next children's class. Yikes!

Although my cookies are typically decorated with swirls and dots on top of the flooded cookies, in classes, I aim to teach the students a more basic way to decorate cookies. It's a wet-on-wet technique. This flower was made by flooding the whole cookie with white icing. Then for the petals, I used a scroll of wet pink icing and used a toothpick to swirl it for that marbled look.

For the middle part, I dropped dots of pink, blue, yellow and purple wet icing and again, used my best friend, the TOOTHPICK to just swirl it around. Pretty!

Once of my student's creations.

Another plateful of cookies.

The students.

Catherine busy at work with Nancy (co-owner of CakeConnection) admiring. Nancy having watched my for many months doing the class, decided to join the class too and made her own cookies. Hahaha. I hope she had fun.

But the best part of the class was the eating of the cookies, freshly baked from the oven when we do the demo for the cookies. Ahhh!

Anyhow. Next class will be in May 2009. Once the schedule is out, I'll holler. In the meantime check out the fun and practical classes at CakeConnection.
